What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy, which was practiced over 5,000 years ago in China, India and Egypt.
Based on the concept that every part of the human body has a corresponding reflex point on the feet and by applying pressure to these reflex points, energy flow is enhanced throughout the body. There are over 7,000 nerve endings on the soles of the feet and by using a variety of finger and thumb techniques along with massage movements, the flow of energy is activated.

What happens at a Reflexology Treatment?
Many people comment on how relaxing my treatment room feels when they arrive at their first appointment. After a brief chat we fill out a short consultation form. Then it's time for relaxation as I recline your chair and make you as comfortable as possible supported by pillows and covered by a blanket to keep you cosy. I cleanse your feet, apply a small amount of Reflexology Balm and start by warming up your feet with soothing massage movements. Then I put on some soft music and begin the Reflexology treatment which is tailored to your specific needs and requirements. During the session, you may feel some parts of your feet tender which may indicate an imbalance so I will work to release tensions at these points in order to restore the body's natural balance.
When the treatment is over, I wash my hands and bring you a glass of filtered water which you can sip while we discuss how you are feeling afterwards. The whole session lasts just over an hour (about 10-15 minutes longer for your first appointment)
Please note that Reflexology is a complementary therapy and can be used alongside other medical treatments but should not be used as an alternative to seeing your GP.
